Both the Danish Royal Family and the Japanese Imperial Family celebrate the new year by donning tiaras. The Danes hold their New Year’s Banquet at Amalienborg Palace in Copenhagen, while the Japanese hold their New Year’s ceremony at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo.

Royal Round Up: Triple the tiara appearances & double the York princesses

This royal round up features three separate tiara appearances (one that barely makes the count as royal, but whatevs) and two different York princesses. Queen Mathilde and Crown Princess Mette-Marit were out and about at State Banquets while Princess Beatrice was doing the charity thing and Princess Eugenie was attending a service at Westminster Abbey.

King Carl XVI Gustaf’s 70th birthday celebrations

King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden celebrated his 70th birthday last Saturday with several events and lots of royals. Crown Princess Victoria brought out Prince Oscar for his first event ever, and Princess Sofia came out for her first event since giving birth.

Japan’s Imperial Family celebrates New Year with tiaras

It’s a brand new year and two royal families celebrated with tiara events. This post is for the Japanese Imperial Family (go here for the Danish Royal Family post). Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko of Japan, accompanied by members of their family, hosted the annual New Year Greeting Ceremony at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo yesterday, January 1.
