Swedish royals at Nobel Laureates Dinner

King Carl XVI Gustaf‘s dinner for the Nobel Laureates was held last night, December 11, at the Royal Palace in Stockholm. Unlike the Nobel Banquet (which is put on by the Nobel committee) the Laureates dinner is hosted by the King – a tradition dating from 1904 when King Oscar II implemented a separate gala dinner to honor the award winners.

Last night, December 11, the Swedish royals – King Carl XVI Gustaf, Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Prince Carl Philip, Princess Sofia, Princess Madeleine, and Chris O’Neill – attended the Nobel Laureates Dinner at the Royal Palace, bringing us a second tiara-filled night. Yay!

King Carl XVI Gustaf’s 70th birthday celebrations

King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden celebrated his 70th birthday last Saturday with several events and lots of royals. Crown Princess Victoria brought out Prince Oscar for his first event ever, and Princess Sofia came out for her first event since giving birth.

My bad for not covering this sooner, Duchess Kate’s Vogue photos and Princess Charlotte’s first birthday pics bumped this one.

Royal Round Up: Royal Wedding Tiaras

I thought about doing a “Which Tiara Will Sofia Wear” post going through all of the Swedish tiaras to contemplate which one Sofia Hellqvist will wear on her wedding day on Saturday, but, while looking at photos of the Swedish tiaras would be fun, realistically there are only a handful of tiaras she could wear that aren’t in use solely by Queen Silvia or owned by other people. Of those, there really is only one that would work well as a wedding tiara (The Connaught Tiara), plus Silvia will have to tiara all of the King’s sisters (I’m guessing Princess Christina will wear the Six Button Tiara). My guess for Sofia is that she will get a brand new tiara to wear.

So instead of listing all of the Swedish tiaras and telling you why Sofia won’t be wearing them, let’s keep on the theme of royal wedding rewinds and take a look at past royal wedding tiaras for the ladies we’ve been looking at this week. As with the engagement rings and wedding dresses, this is not an exhaustive list of royal wedding tiaras, and we’ll be starting with the Swedes.

More tiaras from the Swedish royals at the Nobel Laureates Dinner

More tiaras! Last night, December 11, King Carl XVI Gustaf held the annual dinner for the Nobel Laureates at the Royal Palace in Stockholm. All the royal ladies (and gents) were out to welcome the laureates to the palace. Because this is a white tie dinner, we get more gowns and more tiara photos. Yay! The gowns were different, obviously, but the only royal lady to switch up her tiara game was Queen Silvia. Crown Princess Victoria and Princess Madeleine stuck to their trusty fringe tiaras from the day before. Sofia Hellqvist still didn’t wear a tiara, but she did wear a hair brooch.

Silvia, Victoria, Madeleine, Sofia: Which Swedish Royal lady looked best at the Nobel Prize Ceremony?

Cue the mic drop, Crown Princess Victoria just schooled everyone in how to bring the fashion dramz. Victoria went all out stunning for the Nobel Prize Ceremony at the Stockholm Concert Hall and Nobel Banquet at Stockholm City Hall in a red, strapless ballgown accessorized with a fringe tiara. This is what I think of when I think of a Princess. That’s not to say that Queen Silvia, Princess Madeleine, and Sofia Hellqvist didn’t look fantastic, they did, but Victoria stole the show for me.
