Royal Round Up: Queen Letizia, Crown Princess Victoria, Countess Sophie, Princess Charlene (updated with some Duchess Kate)

Time for another royal round up! This time there’s Queen Letizia, Crown Princess Victoria, Sophie Countess of Wessex, and Princess Charlene. With cameos by King Felipe, Prince Daniel and Princess Estelle, and Prince Albert. Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall was going to be in this post, but she gave so many great quotes that she got her own post. **I stuck a Kate Middleton rumor on as I just saw it.

Royal fashion highs from 2014

I know we’re good and well into 2015 – what with being almost halfway through January already, my how time flies – but I did want to take a look back at the fashion highs from non-Kate royal ladies in 2014. Because A) why not; and B) it’s an excuse to look at Victoria’s red dress again. I picked my favorites from each royal (and royal-to-be) lady I covered in 2014. The list includes: Princess Madeleine; Crown Princess Victoria; Sofia Hellqvist; Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall; Sophie, Countess of Wessex; Princess Charlene; Queen Letizia; and Crown Princess Mary. I’m looking forward to covering these ladies more in 2015, as well as other royal ladies from other houses I’ve never covered before.

The second Sunday in November is Remembrance Sunday in the UK and commemorates the contribution of British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and servicewomen in the two World Wars and later conflicts. There was a parade of service personnel and military bands, and a 10,000 strong march of servicepeople and civilians. A member of the choir fainted during the ceremony. The choir boy was attended to by first aides and was okay.

Sophie, Countess of Wessex gets emotional during visit to hospital that saved her life during birth of Lady Louise

The Countess of Wessex has been getting a lot of coverage lately—which is awesome.  Yesterday, Sophie visited Frimley Park Hospital where she nearly died giving birth to Lady Louise in 2003.  Sophie suffered a placental abruption at 36 weeks which caused her to lose a lot of blood.  Marcus Setchell delivered her via an emergency cesarean one month early.  Lady Louise was taken to St George’s Hospital’s neonatal unit in London for two weeks.

Sophie was at the hospital to open the new neonatal unit.  It was the first time she had been back since she gave birth to her son, James, Viscount Severn, in 2007.  The unit was funded by the Frimley Park Hospital Charity’s Saving Tiny Lives Appeal.

Sophie, Countess of Wessex, shows off her hockey prowess

The Countess of Wessex was out and about yesterday (March 11), visiting the England hockey team at Bisham Abbey National Sports Center in her role as Patron of England Hockey—she’s been patron since January 2007.  Sophie talked to the staff and players and got in on the action by playing a bit with player Shona McCallin.  From the pictures, Sophie seemed to really be enjoying herself, which is great to see.  She was presented with an England Hockey jersey.

The men and women’s England hockey teams will compete in the Hockey World Cup in the Netherlands in June and in the Commonwealth Games in Scotland in August.
