Duchess Kate steps out in ice blue for Wildlife Photographer of the Year Awards

As you know, Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, made her first public appearances since announcing her second pregnancy, yesterday October 21. Kate’s first appearance was taking part in the Singapore State Visit, welcoming the President and his wife. Kate’s second appearance was at the Wildlife Photographer of the Year Awards at the Natural History Museum where she joined Sir David Attenborough to present the winners with their awards, after meeting the finalists and viewing all the artwork. Kate was met and shown around by Sir Michael Dixon, director of the Natural History Museum.

Duchess Kate and Prince William take part in State Visit: Welcome President of Singapore

Our dear Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, made her first public appearance since announcing her second pregnancy and OH MY GOD she had another skirt fly-up. I shake my head at her. Here I was hoping to write something nice – she brought back one of my favorite hats (the Jane Taylor grey hat she wore to Easter service), and she wore a low ponytail which was elegant – and then she had to go and have her skirt fly up again. Thank goodness it wasn’t a full Marilyn, and you can barely see any of her thighs because I believe she’s wearing a dress underneath (if she wasn’t, though, holy crap she would have flashed everyone), but COME ON Kate, this is your first participation in a State Visit and you pull this? You have no idea how disappointed I am, you guys. I was really hoping Kate would nail this appearance. Why do I keep doing this to myself? I keep getting my hopes up that Kate will knock it out of the park and then she does something stupid. When will I learn?

Harry, Pippa, Beatrice, and Eugenie attend wedding in Italy without William or Kate

The young royals, Middletons, and Middleton-adjacents stepped out for the society wedding of Charlie Gilkes and Anneke von Trotha Taylor in Monopoli, Italy at the Carlo V Castle yesterday, September 19. Prince Harry, Princess Beatrice and her Male Waity boyfriend Dave Clark, Princess Eugenie, professional wedding guest Pippa Middleton and her Male Waity boyfriend Nico Jackson, James Middleton and his girlfriend Donna Air, and Carole Middleton were all in attendance. Not in attendance were the Grumpy Faced Prince William who was unable to go due to taking over the Malta trip and pregnant Kate Middleton who is stuck in London or Bucklebury or somewhere without her mommy to take care of her.

Swedish Royals: Silvia, Madeleine and Victoria step out for Childhood’s anniversary dinner

The unexpected news of Kate Middleton’s second pregnancy has overshadowed at lot, and will continue to dominate the press until the new royal sprog is born next April (seriously, the press will find any and all reasons to talk about the royal baby, including telling us what HG is even though they did that already with the last pregnancy–and do we really need other women’s accounts of it, Daily Mail? Or other women’s accounts of dealing with two kids under two? I don’t think so). Now that I’ve gotten completely sidetracked… This post is about the Swedish royals, because I won’t let them be forgotten just because Kate decided to get knocked up again.

The World Childhood Foundation celebrated it’s 15th anniversary yesterday, September 9, and Queen Silvia (the founder), Princess Madeleine and husband Chris O’Neill, and Crown Princess Victoria and husband Prince Daniel attended the gala dinner in honor of the anniversary. Queen Silvia and Princess Madeleine were busy September 8 as well when both attended the third International Council meeting held at the Royal Palace–where they discussed issues common to the four sister foundations in Sweden, USA, Brazil, and Germany.

Pippa Middleton at the GQ Men of the Year Awards

Anyone want a Pippa Middleton update? I haven’t covered Pippa in a long time. Pips was on hand at the GQ Men of the Year Awards to present the Innovator of the Year award to Ewan Venters. So random, right? Why would they choose Pippa to be a presenter? Anyway, Pippa sat next to Conde Nast International President Nicholas Coleridge. Nico Jackson wasn’t there. I usually call Nico the Male Waity, but I guess he decided to stop Waity-ing and got a new job in Switzerland a few months ago. Who knows whats going on with that relationship. I wonder if Pippa got paid to show up to this event. I mean, her book bombed, she was fired from her part-time article writing gigs, what does she do to make money?

Kate joins Will and Harry to start Tour de France (updated)

Our dear Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, was out and about the last few days.  On July 5, Kate joined William and Harry in Yorkshire to start the Tour de France.  She had the honor of cutting the ribbon while Will and Harry held the tape on either side of her (because the Royal Holy Trinity must always be arranged like that).  Kate presented the winner of Stage 1, Marcel Kittel, with the yellow jersey (don’t ask me what those things mean, because I’m not into cycling and have no idea).  Kate also met with some SportsAid athletes as Patron of the organization.

Kate visits school for M-PACT Plus

Our dear Kate Middleton made an appearance yesterday in Islington, north London, to the Blessed Sacrament School to check in on a project she and the Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry (could that name be any longer?) launched last year, M-PACT Plus.  M-PACT Plus, which stands for Moving Parents and Children Together, is a program that provides early support for children aged 8-17 affected by parents who have drug or alcohol addictions.  It’s a joint project by two of Kate’s patronages, Place2Be and Action on Addiction.  So don’t confuse it with the air circuit breakers.  Kate was joined by comedian John Bishop, who was there representing Comic Relief, who helped fund the project with the Royal Foundation.  Bishop gave a speech; Kate did not.

Kate visits Bletchley Park; supports Children’s Hospice Week

Kate has made 5 appearances in the last week (ish).  She made 2 appearances on the 10th, Trooping the Color on the 14th, Order of the Garter on the 16th, and now Bletchley Park on the 18th.  PLUS she watched William play polo on the 15th.  So really that’s 6 appearances with 6 outfit changes all in the span of 9 days.  Geez.  Get the girl to a beach, stat.  Seriously, though, Kate is going to take a vacation.  She has nothing on her schedule until July 5, when she attends the start of the Tour de France.  That’s just over two whole weeks.  Unless they throw something in last minute, then she’s totally taking a two week vacation.  I’m really sick of their “throw a bunch of appearances out all at once and then disappear for a few weeks” method of planning public engagements.  I’d much rather they were consistent with their number and spread of appearances.
