Duchess Kate wears bright pink to September 11 Memorial

I’ve started my last two or three posts with, “Sigh”, and well… Sigh. Because instead of wearing a bright color to a children’s center and black to a memorial site, Duchess Kate chose to wear black to a children’s center and bright pink to the September 11 Memorial. I feel like this is my fault; I asked for color and I got it (finally), but how odd that she decided on color for this event and not the others. Anyway, Kate Middleton and Prince William visited the September 11 Memorial where Kate laid flowers with a handwritten note from the couple. They then toured the museum. They didn’t get there until after 10 AM, which didn’t give them much time to tour Ground Zero and visit The Door before the afternoon GREAT receptions.

Prince William and Duchess Kate meet Hillary Clinton, Beyonce, and Jay Z

Sigh. They dragged poor Hillary Clinton into this, didn’t they. And apparently Duchess Kate really wanted to meet the Former First Lady, because Kate made an appearance at the conservation reception that she wasn’t originally scheduled to be at. That’s the highlight of this rest-of-day-two post. The lowlight? Prince William and Kate Middleton meeting Beyonce and Jay Z at the NBA game. Ugh.

Duchess Kate wears black for Northside visit

Sigh. Someone needs to tell Duchess Kate that she shouldn’t wear black to a children’s center. Someone also needs to tell Duchess Kate to stop wearing Goat coats, because even when she has them lengthened, they are still too short. For her second day in New York, Kate Middleton visited the Northside Center for Child Development where she, accompanied by Chirlane McCray, the First Lady of New York City, toured the center, met with children (and actually bent all the way down to talk to them), and wrapped Christmas presents. Kate then went to a lunch reception at the British Consul General’s residence. Note on coverage: Williams’ stuff, the NBA game, and the conservation reception (to which Kate is now going) will be in separate posts.

Prince William and Duchess Kate arrive in NYC

Will and Kate arrive at Carlyle Hotel 2
[Jason Calabretta Twitter]

The Cambridges are in New York, yo. Prince William and Kate Middleton arrived at the Carlyle Hotel at around 5:40 PM yesterday, December 7, and were cheery enough to stop for 3 seconds (literally) to pose for photographers before heading inside. Kate did a quick change before she and Will headed out to a private dinner on behalf of the American Friends of the Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry [longest title ever].

The Duchess of Cambridge joined 700 guests to learn about the proposed hospice EACH plans to build and hear from people who had been helped by EACH.

Sofia Hellqvist joins tiara-clad Crown Princess Victoria and Queen Silvia for Official Dinner

Anyone want some tiara action from the Swedes? On Tuesday, November 18, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden held the year’s second Official Dinner at the Royal Palace (the first one was in March). The Dinner saw the King, Queen, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel, and Prince Carl Philip and Sofia Hellqvist greet representatives from the diplomatic corps, parliament, government, government agencies, science, sports, business, culture and the people who met the Royal Family on trips.

Duchess Kate bores in black DVF for Royal Variety Performance

Prince William and Kate Middleton (in a super boring dress) attended their first Royal Variety Performance at the London Palladium Theatre on behalf of the Entertainment Artistes Benevolent Fund tonight, November 13. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were greeted by Andrew Lloyd Webber and his wife Madeleine Lloyd-Webber before heading inside and meeting some of the performers, including One Direction (which I guess is a band?) and Ellie Goulding (who sang at Will and Kate’s wedding). The Cambridges then headed into the auditorium for the performance, afterwards heading onstage to meet more performers.

Duchess Kate at SportsAid athlete workshop

As Patron of SportsAid (since 2013), Kate Middleton attended the SportsAid athlete workshop at the GSK Human Performance Lab yesterday, November 12. The Duchess of Cambridge was there to see thirty 16-20 year old athletes take part in a series of scientific assessments on respiration, temperature, power, cognition and body composition designed to help them reach their goal of attending the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2020, or the Paralympic Games in PyeongChang in 2018. Paralympic wheelchair athlete David Weir CBE attended the workshop as did Olympic swimmer Keri-anne Payne, who gave a mentoring session.
