Prince William attends dinner/gala for Royal Marsden, but it turns into a fashion event with lame excuses for Kate’s absence

I wasn’t going to cover this, or at least I was going to wait a while before I mentioned it, but the inane coverage of William’s charity dinner/gala (for the Royal Marsden Hospital, held at Windsor Castle) has made me want to say something.  There are SEVEN (7) articles on the Daily Mail website dedicated to this thing.  And guess what, they’re pretty much all just fashion posts.  Yet they still claim, in the articles, that Kate decided not to attend because she didn’t want her clothes to pull focus from William’s charity.  That is some utter BS right there.  If William didn’t want fashion to pull focus, then he shouldn’t have invited so many fashion girls to his event.  And if he is willing to invite so many fashion girls to his event, then there is no reason for Kate not to be one of them.

POLL: Least Favorite Outfit – Royal Tour 2014

Let’s have a “Least Favorite Outfit Kate wore on the Royal Tour” Poll!  William is boring and I have no idea when we’ll see Kate next, and we already talked/voted about the outfits we liked, so we might as well talk about the outfits we didn’t like.  Yes, this is filler until Kate pops out of her hidey hole, but I think it will be fun nonetheless.  I’m super curious to see how this one turns out.

As with the last poll, I’m only including Kate’s dresses and coats she wore, because the skinny jeans are throw-away outfits.  A new poll this time around is the “Least Favorite Hat” Poll.  I thought I’d add this one in simply because I want to make fun of the Demented Bunny Ears hat.

Also, as far as site maintenance, I’m going to start using a “Continue Reading” button on the home page.  Each post with show up on the home page with an opening paragraph or two, then you will see a “Continue Reading” button in pink type that will take you to the rest of the article—as demonstrated below this paragraph.  I’m doing this so that the home page and the past posts are easier to navigate (when I scroll down the home page it’s hard/annoying to find a specific post because the posts are so long).

Favorite Outfit Poll Results + upcoming appearances (or lack thereof)

We have a winner!  I have the Favorite Outfit Poll results.  The LK Bennett blue/white poppy print dress was the winner with 23.08% of the vote.

Rounding out the top 5 were: the Dove grey Alexander McQueen coat with 13.02% of the vote; the Roksanda Ilincic yellow/white dress with 7.69% of the vote; and tied for 4th are the Tory Burch black/white patterned dress and the Lela Rose white cocktail dress with lattice sleeves and peplum, both receiving 5.92% of the vote.

Cressida Bonas ups her fashion game for the paps, so does Pippa + Harry Look-alike dupes people in Memphis, and William’s future appearances

You know one interesting, and dare I say good, thing to come out of the Breakup of Prince Harry and Cressida Bonas?  Daily Cressida pap walk photos!  I’m not sure if she is still going to her job or not, but she has been papped almost every day since the news of the split broke.  So she might be.  It’s interesting that there was a report of her taking “compassionate leave” because she didn’t want to be photographed, and then the next time she gets photographed she’s looking the best I’ve ever seen her look, fashion-wise.

POLL: Royal Tour 2014 – Favorite Outfit Kate Wore

Here is a round-up of all the outfits Kate wore during the Royal Tour. There were 25 total outfit changes, three of which involved pants. The pants outfits are throw-aways for me, and looked too similar to bother with. There’s one caveat of my fashion coverage in this post: I am only covering the clothes (dresses, coats, etc.) Kate wore; her hats, shoes, bags, and jewelry do not count. She didn’t wear enough hats to bother with, nor did she change up her shoes, bags, and jewelry enough to bother with. So this is only about her clothes.

Will and Kate pay tribute to fallen soldiers in ANZAC day service before departing for London

And so concludes the Great Royal Cambridge Tour of New Zealand and Australia…  Prince William and Kate Middleton concluded their tour on Day 19 by attending services to mark ANZAC day.  They then boarded a RAAF plane in Canberra and flew to Sydney, where they changed planes (Will carried George) and flew home to London.

Kate wears white, and no jewelry, for final night in OZ

William and Kate attended a reception at Government House—named Yarralumla—in Canberra, hosted by the Governor General of Australia, Sir Peter Cosgrove, to end Day 18—their last night in OZ.  There were about 100 guests from the arts, business, charity, conservation, and sporting industries, as well as surviving recipients of the Victoria Cross.  The Governor General gave a speech in which he paralleled the Cambridges to the former York’s trip of 1927—the then Duke and Duchess of York, who later became King George VI and Queen Elizabeth—because they had a young child at the time and “accounts of their visit note the deafening cheers of the crowds, the fervent and spontaneous greetings of those they met and the Duchess won hearts from the start – all words that could describe the last couple of weeks.”

Kate wears bright green for day in Canberra

We have reached Day 18, the penultimate day of the Royal Tour of Australia and New Zealand.  Prince William and Kate Middleton spent their next-to-last day in Canberra—the capital of Australia.  They visited the National Arboretum, where they planted a tree (and by “planted” I mean they threw dirt over and already planted tree) and chatted to schoolchildren.  They attended a reception at Parliament House where the host PM Tony Abbott and Will both made speeches (opposition leader Bill Shorten also gave a speech).  The reception was attended by more than 600 guests including members of Australia’s House of Representatives and Senate, diplomats, and members of the armed forces, among others.  The next appearance was at the National Portrait Gallery where they viewed portraits and met some artists and patrons.  One of the paintings they viewed is the portrait of Crown Princess Mary of Denmark; they also met the person who painted it.  I have to say, that is a portrait.  CP Mary looks wonderful.

Kate tries DJ-ing while wearing a deep v-neck in Elizabeth/Adelaide

Can I just say, no royal should ever try DJ-ing.  It was cringe-worthy when Charles did it and it’s cringe-worthy when Will and Kate do it.  Please, royals, just stop.  Granted, neither one really wanted to try it; they both kept insisting the other go first—they must have known how cringe-worthy they would look.  For Day 17, Will and Kate went to Adelaide, South Australia.  More specifically, they went to Elizabeth, a small suburb of Adelaide, named after the Queen (obviously).  The Cambridges visited a music studio/youth center, Northern Sound System, and were shown how to… I don’t even know what it’s called, scratch the records?  That’s what they did, held down the records and moved them around to make a scratching noise.  Outside, they watched a skateboarding display and were presented with a skateboard for George.  Will then spray-painted a wall (the artwork had already been started Will just dabbed in a little bit).  The Cambridges then unveiled a plaque for a planned new business development named Prince George Plaza.  Then they went to a reception.  There was a walkabout thrown in there somewhere.

Will and Kate visit Uluru (Ayers Rock)

In an update from my previous post, it seems like Will and Kate will not cause a huge ruckus over those photos and video of them walking hand in hand and of Kate playing with George.  Royal aides have asked the British media not to use the footage, but they aren’t going to make a huge deal over it.  It looks like someone from their PR department actually is thinking straight.  If they made a huge deal over this footage they would have turned everyone off and killed the goodwill they have been building, which would negate the whole purpose of the tour.  Who knows how much of a tantrum Will threw (or if he didn’t throw one because he was in on the release of footage that makes them look like a loving couple and her a hands-on mom), but if he did throw one, I’m glad someone on his team was able to throw some logic in there.  Making a huge deal over that footage would have been dumb.
