Prince Harry talks leaving the army, wanting children: “I would love to have kids right now”

Prince Harry sat down (or stood, rather) for an interview with Sky News while on tour in New Zealand. He talked a lot about his time in the army, his reasons for leaving, and wanting to earn a wage like everyone else. He also talked a bit about wanting to meet Princess Charlotte and wanting his own wife and children.

Royal Round Up: The British, Part 1

My series of upcoming Royal Round Ups will be slightly different from the normal weekly round ups. These will feature a mix of royals (or maybe just one) from specific countries, rather than a mix of royals from a mix of countries. Today’s round up features some British royals (no Sophie in this post, but she will feature heavily in part 2 of the Brits). We’ve got some Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton, post-birth articles (because those are still happening), some Prince Charles talking Princess Charlotte, some Prince Harry starting his New Zealand tour, the Queen inviting Princess Beatrice to an official event, and Zara Phillips Tindall supporting her crazy-pant-wearing husband Mike Tindall.

Prince William and Kate Middleton issue privacy warning to the press; Harry gets a kiss in OZ

Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, via their communications secretary and the Norfolk police, have requested “acts of harassment and breaches of privacy” from “professional photographers using long distance lenses” to cease while they stay at Anmer Hall this summer with their two children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

Royal Round Up: William, Harry, Mary, Maxima, Victoria, Sofia, Letizia

Kate Middleton is still pregnant as of the time of this posting, BTW. There is even more Kate/William/royal baby mania stuff I’ll get to later, but for now let’s have a palette cleanser. This week’s royal round up is a catch up with some of the other European royals who got lost in the shuffle last week because of Margrethe’s 75th birthday celebrations and all of Kate’s stuff. This week we have the royals commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Gallipoli (including Prince William, Prince Harry, and Crown Princess Mary, among others), Queen Maxima, Crown Princess Victoria, Sofia Hellqvist, and Queen Letizia.

William, Kate and George received lots of wine and books as official gifts in 2014

The annual lists of gifts received by members of the British Royal Family were released. While the Queen and other members of the royal family release info on gifts received in the UK, Prince Charles, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince George, and Prince Harry only release info on gifts received during official overseas visits. I’m only going to cover the Cambridges and Harry’s gifts. Overall, Will and Kate got a lot of alcohol, but also a lot of books. Kate received a lot of jewelry we’ll probably never see her wear. George received a crap ton of books and toys. Harry didn’t get as many gifts as Will and Kate, but his are more interesting and diverse, I think, including an automatic rifle (decommissioned of course).
