Prince George accompanies Will and Kate on meet-and-greet with NZ parents

Prince George’s grumpy face is the best thing in the entire world.  That had to be said first thing, now let’s begin.  Kate and William, along with George, attended a meet-and-greet with ten sets of parents and their children—all born within a few weeks of George’s birth last year on July 22—at Government House in Wellington, organized by the Royal New Zealand Plunket Society.  Plunket is a non-profit organization that helps babies born in New Zealand with free childcare advice, home visits and other services.  Kate and William talked to the parents and George played with the children.

Kate, William and George land in Wellington to start their 3-week tour (updated)

Prince William and Kate Middleton, Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, have officially landed in New Zealand—along with their son, Prince George—to start their three week tour of NZ and Australia.  They landed in Sydney first; then took a plane to Wellington.  They then went to the Government House for a ceremonial welcome including a Maori Powhiri and a 21 gun salute. Kate meeting the Governor-General and his wife; Kate greeting the Maori with a traditional greeting, called a Hongi; Kate meeting the Maori performers. UPDATE: Here is an article about the Maori greeting and dance, with a lot of nice pictures. It mentions Kate giggling when she met the Maori men who were wearing their traditional garb. I don’t know if she actually giggled or not as I have not seen a video. I have now seen a video and I don’t think she was “giggling” as the article would have us believe. It seemed more to me that she was smiling and laughing at what the man was saying, rather than giggling because she was embarrassed or something. /UPDATE

Last minute updates before Will and Kate start their tour (updated)

Before I go ahead with my post, I would like to make a site-related comment.  If I’ve done everything correctly, you should have already been redirected from my WordPress-hosted site,, to my new self-hosted site,  This new self-hosted site has all the content from the WordPress site.  Everything is the same, except it is self-hosted on its own domain.  Oh, and I changed the theme.  I got tired of the old one.  I will leave the WordPress site up, and will continue to post on it, as I transition to the new self-hosted site.  Anyone who followed my WordPress site, I would ask to follow this one now instead.  There is a “follow” button in the bottom right corner.  I hope this transition goes over well.  I appreciate your understanding and apologize for any inconvenience.

Kate went shopping at the Gap

Kate was spotted shopping at the Gap the other day.  The Gap store is 500 yards from her Kensington Palace apartment.  She had someone drive her there and wait outside, on a double yellow line, for 20 minutes while she shopped.  There were three bodyguards with her.  She bought clothes for George, and a couple pairs of pants for herself–because she can’t go into a store with a women’s section and not buy herself something.  Obvs.

Prince William and Kate release new family photo with Prince George (and Lupo!)

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have released a new family photo for Mother’s Day (in the UK, which is March 30 – in the US, Mother’s Day isn’t until May).  The photo features Prince William, Kate, Prince George, and Lupo at the window of Kensington Palace.  William has his arm around Lupo, and Kate is holding George.  George is looking at Lupo, and Lupo looks like he’s thinking, “Stop staring at me kid, you’re freaking me out.”  Or he could be thinking, “Don’t touch me, please don’t touch me.  It’s my tail/ears/whatever, leave me alone.” I wouldn’t be surprised if George was a tail puller.

Kate, William and Harry attend society wedding

The Royal Holy Trinity was out and about today.  Prince William, Prince Harry, and Kate Middleton attended the society wedding of Lucy Meade and Charlie Budgett at St. Mary’s Church in Marshfield, Gloucestersire.

Considering it was Lucy’s day, I’m going to talk about the bride first.  Lucy looked lovely.  I love the lace detail around the shoulders.  Lucy wore a little tiara.  It’s cute, but not overwhelming.  It fits.

Kate wore her blue Missoni tweed coat she’s worn a few times now.  She first wore this coat in March 2012 on a trip to Fortnum and Mason’s with the Queen and Camilla—this was the “can you smell tea by smelling it” trip.  Kate then repeated the coat for a trip to Nottingham in June 2012, again with the Queen, but with William instead of Camilla.  For the wedding, under the coat Kate wore a Whistles dress she previously wore to the Jubliee concert and the closing ceremony of the 2012 Olympics.

Prince William knights doctor who delivered George, and other news.

Random info: Whenever I see the word “doctor” followed by the word “who” in a sentence, I automatically think of Doctor Who, the television show.  I’m a Whovian.

There is some random Kate and William bits to report:

  • Prince William knighted the man who delivered Prince George.  Sir Marcus Setchell (as he is now known) was made a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order yesterday at Buckingham Palace.  William performed the investiture.  Setchell saved the lives of Sophie, Countess of Wessex and Lady Louise Windsor in 2003, when he delivered Louise a month early via cesarean.  Sophie almost died.  If Setchell was going to be knighted, he should have been knighted for that, not for delivering George.  I do love that Setchell is so “I don’t give a sh-t” about delivering George.  He said, “[delivering George was] just the same pleasurable, lovely experience [as every other delivery].”  Links:  Express article.  Telegraph article.
  • William and Kate have reportedly made a donation of £5,000 to the town of Rhyl in Anglesey somewhere in Wales that is near Anglesey to help with the flooding and flood victims.  It was a “private” donation.  I don’t know what that means and don’t know where the money came from.  This is good, I guess, right?  The number’s kind of small, though.  They spent more on their vacation.  Links:  Telegraph article.
  • William, Kate and Harry attended a black tie, Chairman’s dinner at Buckingham Palace Monday night a Patrons of the Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry (damn that name is a mouthful).  Kate wore a long, white dress.  Links:  Rebecca English twitter.  Richard Palmer twitterNiraj Tanna twitter.

The defense of Will and Kate’s decision to leave George behind doesn’t hold much water

So there has been backlash to Will and Kate (especially, because she’s a woman and women always get sh-t on harder than men) leaving poor little George (their PR stunt baby) behind with Carole and a nanny while Will and Kate jet off on a week-long holiday in the Maldives.  To me, this is not surprising.  Of course they would get backlash for leaving their son behind, that’s half the reason they’re taking him to Oz.  They really are idiots, or they thought they wouldn’t get caught going on this trip, for leaving George.  Anyway, there hasn’t been as much backlash from the press, because they got to go to a private meeting at KP where they met George so they won’t print anything negative.  There has also been some backlash about the cost of their trip—reportedly one villa costs $10,000 for 4 days, and each meal costs $500, and that doesn’t include the plane costs and all the costs for the security team they brought with them.

Kate and William take a vacation: Maldives edition (updated)

Kate and William have reportedly jetted off on yet another holiday, this time to the Maldives.  This makes three holidays for the Cambs this year: Mustique – Kate and George; Spain – William; Maldives – Kate and William.  It is unclear whether George is with the Cambs in the Maldives.  I’m going to guess they left him with the nannies. UPDATE: Reportedly George has been left with Carole while Will and Kate are away. He is accompanied by a full protection detail. /UPDATE Hilarious how Will and Kate say they don’t want to go anywhere with out him, yet William spent a week away from George while he was in Mustique with Kate, and now they are both spending a week away from him. They probably didn’t think they’d get caught going on vacation.
