Kate Middleton visits Downton Abbey

Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, was out and about again today, March 12, visiting the set of the award-winning TV show, Downton Abbey, at Ealing Studios. Kate has been a fan of Downton Abbey for years, revealing in 2011 that she and Prince William were huge fans of the show. Of course, they seem to be huge fans of every television show of every actor they talk to, but whatevs. The Middletons toured the Downton Abbey set in 2011, and Sophie, Countess of Wessex has visited multiple times before (including last week), so now Kate gets to check that off her list. Except Kate didn’t get to meet the amazing Dame Maggie Smith, because she dropped out due to illness.

Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall in diamonds and rubies for film premiere

I would normally wait and include the goings on of Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall in the Royal Round Up post on Sunday, but Camilla’s rubies and diamonds just can’t wait. Camilla brought out the big jewels for the film premiere of The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel with Prince Charles tonight. Camilla wore a four-strand diamond and ruby necklace, with matching earrings and bracelet. She paired her jewels with a long-sleeved, deep burgundy velvet gown by Anna Valentine, a lilac organza wrap, and lilac and gold clutch.

Yesterday, February 11, the Swedish Royal Family stepped out for the first official dinner of the year at the Royal Palace in Stockholm. As per usual, guests included representatives from the diplomatic corps, parliament, government, government agencies, science, sport, business, and culture. There was a big royal turn out which included King Carl XVI Gustaf, Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Prince Carl Philip, Sofia Hellqvist, and Princess Madeleine (Chris sat this one out). Guests were received in the White Sea and dinner was served in Karl XI’s Gallery.

Duchess Kate wears light blue maternity coat for three appearances in Kensington

Huzzah, Kate isn’t in mourning! Kate Middleton put on her big girl panties and finally stepped out of her non-maternity mourning clothes for three engagements in Kensington today, January 19. Kate visited the charity Family Friends for a coffee morning (BTW I’m so used to typing “mourning” that I typed that first and had to correct myself), then she officially opened the Kensington Aldridge Academy, then hopped over to the Kensington Leisure Centre and officially opened that.

Danish Royal Family dons tiaras for New Year’s Banquet

The Danish Royal Family stepped out yesterday, January 1, for their first major event of the year, the New Year’s Banquet at Christian VII’s Palace. This is the second royal house to host a New Year’s event (go here for the Japanese). The New Year’s Banquet is a major event for the Danes where they host a number of government officials and other guests and show up in their most formal wear and jewels. Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary, Prince Joachim and Princess Marie, all joined Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik for the event.
