Pippa has no style: Finally the Daily Mail is catching on

Oh my gawd!  The Daily Mail has an article up all about Pippa’s awful style sense.  I have thought for a long time that Pippa had no taste in clothes and didn’t know how to put an outfit together, but the DM continually lauded her dress sense and tried to push on us that Pips was some huge fashion girl.  Well not anymore.  This article completely trashes Pippa’s style.  It’s amazing!  There are some great quips in there, but this quote just sums up her whole style perfectly:

“Time and again, Pippa, 29, appears with clothes like potato sacks, over-made-up panda eyes, a lack of a bra or any sort of upholstery at all — which means her breasts loll rather unfortunately like spaniel’s ears — with her knees exposed knobbly at every occasion.”

Pippa’s clothes never do seem to fit her body right, which is weird since you know she (I mean, her parents—or Uncle Gary) has enough money to spring for a proper tailor.  Both Pippa and Kate have an eyeliner problem: they line their eyes heavily with black eyeliner and it makes them look like raccoons.  Pippa really needs to sort out her bra situation.  At the Percy wedding it looked like she didn’t have on a very good bra, and at the “society wedding of the year” that’s a problem.  Kate has the same problem re hem length.  Kate’s hems are always too short, especially since she got pregnant.

I am quite surprised at this article, not the fact the Pippa has bad taste in clothes (that’s obvious), but the fact that the DM chose to write an article about her bad taste in clothes.  The DM has been up the Middleton’s butt ever since the engagement, and especially since the Middleton’s hired a PR team.  They must not fear any Middleton wrath if they’re writing articles that don’t fawn all over Pips.  It’s nice to see.  The Middleton’s (and the royals, for that matter) work really hard to keep their image going and make the public fawn all over them, to keep the public from realizing how awful they really are and to keep the public from revolting against them.  We need more articles like this one that break the press-made façade that is the high and mighty Middleton clan (and Windsor clan).

  1. Spaniel’s ears! When the DM is right, it’s right!!

It’s a complete mystery to me why the Middleton girls dress so poorly: they are both slim and wealthy, so it’s actually kind of a feat to consistently wear such uninspired and unflattering clothing! Of course, Kate has made some notable improvements to her style since the engagement–I know the Royal Fam won’t admit to her having a stylist or dresser, but it is blatant that she has someone who is providing sartorial advice. She does get it “right” quite often now, but she always seems to revert back to the unstylish ways of her twenties, and thus makes it seem like the good clothes are merely the exceptions that prove the rule of her limited sartorial understanding. What comes to mind, in particular, is the gorgeous green Emilia Wickstead coatdress she has worn for the past two St. Patrick’s Days. While it’s not a particularly fashion-forward piece, it did fit her beautifully and was occasion-appropriate.

Kate wore this denim skirt from Zara several times over the pre-engagement period: http://www.spokeo.com/Kate+Middleton+1/May+03+2007+France+Fr
How does it manage to be so matronly even though it is quite short? Kate has fantastic–albeit, a bit short for her body–legs! Why is she covering them with baggy brown suede boots?

And because she never quite seems to learn her lesson, during the Olympics, Kate decide to bring the white, denim monster with the inverted pleat out into the open again: http://whatkatewore.com/tag/kate-middleton-white-denim-skirt/

Pippa has an even worse track record than Kate these days, and I still don’t really understand why. As a private-ish citizen, she needn’t choose her outfits to stand up under the same kind of scrutiny that Kate’s do. Again, she’s slim and has money. Why does she consistently wear outfits that either overwhelm her frame or cause those around her to blush at her immodesty? Also, what is happening with her hair? Is there some rule that Kate is the only one allowed professional blow-outs and (I suspect, at least) extensions to add volume? Pippa’s hairstyle is always flat and lifeless. Don’t get me wrong, I am definitely tired of Kate’s security blanket hair, but it seems like that is the look Pippa is going for but never quite achieves.

    Great post! Keep ’em coming!

    1. I do love that green coat-dress she wore for St. Patrick’s Day, it is quite nice and I would totally buy that for myself.
Her legs are short compared to her torso, I find it annoying when the press keeps pushing how great and long her legs are when it’s obvious that her body is oddly proportioned and her legs are too short comparatively.
I’m not sure why they have such horrible style either. Kate shops all the time, you would think she would have nicer clothes. She needs a better stylist. And Pippa could be so much better but it looks like she doesn’t even try. Well, I guess she is trying, but is failing. She needs a stylist too.

  2. I just noticed that two of the tags for this post are “panda eyes” and “potato sacks”!

    Brilliant!
