Cambridges at Festival of Remembrance 2019

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge joined The Queen and other members of the British Royal Family for the annual Festival of Remembrance on Saturday night, November 9. This is the fifth year Kate has attended this event, and the fourth for William (he missed this event in 2017).

The annual Festival of Remembrance is put on by the Royal British Legion as a thank you to the men and women who served and sacrificed for their country. The Royal British Legion was established after World War I in 1921 to care for those who had suffered as a result of service during the First World War – both service personnel and their families. The first Festival of Remembrance was held in 1923.

This year’s Festival included music from The Massed Bands of the Household Division, the Countess of Wessex’s String Orchestra, the Band of HM Royal Marines, and the Central Band of the Royal Air Force. Other performers included James Blunt, Leona Lewis and Jeff Goldblum.

The Festival also included unique tributes to the battles of Monte Cassino, Kohima, Imphal and D-Day, culminating in a parade of the last surviving veterans who fought and served in 1944.

Kate wore a new navy dress, black velvet pumps from Jimmy Choo, an Alexander McQueen clutch, and a Zara headband. Credit to UFO No More for those ids.

Kate is also wearing Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Stud and Pearl Drop Earrings on loan from the Queen, and what appears to be her oak leaf brooch to hold three poppies.

The Countess of Wessex wore a military badge I can’t identify, and one of the more sparkly poppies the Poppy Shop sells (I can’t tell which one).
