Prince William and The Duchess of Cambridge kicked off their Caribbean tour today, March 19, landing in Belize. This tour, along with others by other members of the royal family throughout the year, is marking The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. William and Kate will also visit Jamaica and the Bahamas during their 8-day tour.

After disembarking the plane at Philip S. W Goldson International Airport, William inspected the Guard of Honour before the couple met dignitaries at the airport including the Governor-General of Belize, Froyla Tzalam (the woman in brown/gray), and the CEO of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Amalia Mai (the woman in green).

The royal couple then held a meeting with the Prime Minister of Belize, Johnny Briceno, and his wife, Rossana Briceno, at the Laing Building in Belize City.

We all know Kate loves a good theme-dressing moment and the Belize flag includes navy blue, so naturally Kate’s arrival outfit is entirely blue (although this would have been a great opportunity to include some red jewelry as the Belize flag also includes red).

Kate wore a new blue lace dress by Jenny Packham. She color-matched her accessories, opting for a matching blue clutch and suede pumps, and her sapphire and diamond earrings and matching necklace.

While watching the livestream of their arrival, I thought Kate’s dress was a solid fabric and I liked the dress, but then I saw HD photos and realized it’s entirely lace and now I dislike it. I think the cut and shape are nice, but I dislike lace so an entire lace dress is a pass for me.

I feel the need to mention William’s facial expressions at the airport because I watched the livestream and he was squinting the entire time. Taken alone, his face might look grumpy or constipated, but I think he was just squinting from the sun.
