Tomorrow, July 22, is Prince George‘s 7th birthday. To celebrate, Kensington Palace released two photos of the birthday boy taken by his mum, The Duchess of Cambridge.

One photo is of George on a gravel road, and the other against a wall. I find both photos to be just kind of okay, to be honest – I think Kate has done better photographs before; and I still think George’s first birthday photos are my favorite of his birthday photos (I love the butterflies).

I’ve never fully bought into the idea that the Cambridge kids look like anyone in particular, because they have flashes of looking like a bunch of people at various times, but I have to say George looks very Middleton here. Like, I fully see the Middleton genes coming through in these photos; he looks just like Kate’s dad Michael.

Anyway, happy birthday to George! I can’t believe he’s already 7 – it doesn’t seem that long ago that live-streaming a door was the height of entertainment for royal watchers. Ah, simpler times.
