Various members of the British Royal Family participated in a “clap for our carers” social media campaign yesterday by releasing videos of themselves clapping to show support for all medical professionals and volunteers working to combat COVID-19.
Kensington Palace released a video of Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis clapping with the caption: “To all the doctors, nurses, carers, GPs, pharmacists, volunteers and other NHS staff working tirelessly to help those affected by #COVID19: thank you.”
Clarence House decided to do an Instagram Story with small clips of Prince Charles and The Duchess of Cornwall clapping, of which I can only get a screenshot.
Buckingham Palace did not release a video of The Queen, but did post a short statement from her as well as photos of her past visits with health workers. The statement reads: “We are enormously thankful for the expertise and commitment of our scientists, medical practitioners and emergency and public services.”
The Wessex family, though, made a video which BP published. Prince Edward, The Countess of Wessex, Lady Louise Windsor, and James, Viscount Severn are shown clapping, and Edward says: “So from all of us, just a huge thank you to so many of you working on the frontline. We really appreciate it. Keep us the fantastic work.”
BP’s social media also released a video of Sophie, taken by Lady Louise, a few days ago in which Sophie says: “For parents and carers, it can be a daunting time to help our children and young people through this period of uncertainty but please don’t feel alone. Make use of the resources out there and the fantastic digital communities that are sharing them and supporting them. Stay safe and thinking of you all.” Sophie did some IG stories, too, which you can view here.
Sussex Royal also threw up an IG story in support.
