Prince William and The Duchess of Cambridge made their first joint engagements of 2020 yesterday, January 15, visiting Bradford. Kate has made a couple non-public engagements already (various meetings), but these were her first public engagements of the year.
The first stop in Bradford was Bradford City Hall, where William and Kate met with a group of young people to hear about life in the community, as well as representatives from local businesses who are helping young people into employment. The couple also did a walkabout outside City Hall.

Once they had their milkshakes, the couple sat down with representatives from the UK Women’s Muslim Council and people who have benefited from the Council’s Curry Circle, which is sponsored by MyLahore and provides a hot two-course meal for people who are homeless or struggling to feed themselves.

I tried knitting. So when I first had George, I thought I’d knit him this very special jumper. And I got half way down this pattern, and it was so terrible I gave up on it.

William and Kate did another little walkabout after leaving the Centre. Kate spoke with one member of the public, who got a hug from Kate, and mentioned that she and William are most likely done having children.
While chatting with royal fan Josh Macpalce, who excitedly told the royal that he has sent cards congratulating her after each of her three children were born, she revealed that it is unlikely she will become a mom of four in the future.
“I don’t think William wants any more,” Kate told the 25-year-old as she and William stepped out for their first outing since news broke that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will be stepping back as senior members of the royal family.
Macplace, who has autism and DiGeorge syndrome, which is caused by the deletion of a small segment of chromosome 22, held out his arms to Kate, who bent down and gave him a hug.
“Thank you for the hug,” she told him.

While I do think Kate’s shifting the answer of this question to what William wants could be construed as “Kate gets no say” (and that could totally be true; I’m not in Kate’s head), I wonder if this shift has more to do with being uncomfortable with the question and using the shift to William as a defense mechanism. I could see that happening. But that’s just speculation based on nothing.
Kate’s starting this year out trying to make my Worst list by wearing a coat with boob flaps and a dress with a bow – two things I very much dislike in fashion.
Kate wore a new coat from Alexander McQueen which features a military-esque style and color, and the afore-mentioned boob flaps. Kate’s dress is from Zara and features a bow, and is that a giant belt, too? Oh dear.
I do appreciate Kate brought back her green Zeen earrings she wore in Pakistan. Kate’s pumps are from Gianvito Rossi, and her bag is the Aspinal of London “Midi Mayfair Bag” ($775.00).
I inexplicably derive a lot of joy from seeing royals eat food, so I’m particularly enjoying these photos of Kate drinking a milkshake.

Here are a few more photos from the visit. While at the Khidmat Centre, William and Kate saw a large cake and cupcakes with photos from their lives made by Bradford baker Siama Ali. First of all, now I want cupcakes. Second of all, these decorations are incredible.
