Tiara Tour 2015: Queen Elizabeth, Queen Maxima, HGD Stephanie

Lots of tiaras popped up this week, so let’s take another Grand Tiara Tour of Europe on this Friday evening. Queen Elizabeth paid a State Visit to Germany with a State Dinner on the second night giving us lots of jewels and a tiara; Queen Maxima and other Dutch royals held a reception for the diplomatic corps and popped up in tiaras; and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie and the rest of the Luxembourg royal ladies put on the tiaras for National Day celebrations.

Royal Round Up: Royal Wedding Tiaras

I thought about doing a “Which Tiara Will Sofia Wear” post going through all of the Swedish tiaras to contemplate which one Sofia Hellqvist will wear on her wedding day on Saturday, but, while looking at photos of the Swedish tiaras would be fun, realistically there are only a handful of tiaras she could wear that aren’t in use solely by Queen Silvia or owned by other people. Of those, there really is only one that would work well as a wedding tiara (The Connaught Tiara), plus Silvia will have to tiara all of the King’s sisters (I’m guessing Princess Christina will wear the Six Button Tiara). My guess for Sofia is that she will get a brand new tiara to wear.

So instead of listing all of the Swedish tiaras and telling you why Sofia won’t be wearing them, let’s keep on the theme of royal wedding rewinds and take a look at past royal wedding tiaras for the ladies we’ve been looking at this week. As with the engagement rings and wedding dresses, this is not an exhaustive list of royal wedding tiaras, and we’ll be starting with the Swedes.

As with the royal engagement rings post, this is not an exhaustive list of royal wedding dresses. In keeping with the other theme of this week, we’ll start with the Swedes.

Royal Round Up: Queen Margrethe’s 75th birthday, day two

This week’s royal round up is going to be a little different. Instead of the usual round up, this post is dedicated to Queen Margrethe‘s second day of birthday celebrations on April 16 (her actual 75th birthday) that I didn’t have time to post during the week.

Royals attend Holocaust Remembrance Day events

Yesterday was International Holocaust Remembrance Day and the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration and extermination camp, Auschwitz-Birkenau, by Soviet troops. There was a ceremony at Auschwitz attended by heads of state, dignitaries, and over 300 Auschwitz survivors. Additionally, there were a number of commemorative events held around the world. A number of Europe’s royals attended the ceremony at Auschwitz or other events in their own countries. Prince William released a statement from Mustique.
