The Emmy Awards were held last night, and The Crown, which depicted the early reign of Queen Elizabeth II, was up for several awards, including Best Actress and Best Drama Series. The only award they won last night was Best Supporting Actor for John Lithgow.
Lithgow won for his portrayal of former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, whom he thanked in his acceptance speech, saying: “Most of all I have to thank Winston Churchill. In these crazy times, his life, even as an old man, reminds us what courage and leadership in government really looks like.”
Claire Foy, who lost Best Actress Drama to Elisabeth Moss, attended wearing a black jumpsuit, and posed on the carpet with Matt Smith.
Vanessa Kirby, who played Princess Margaret on the show, attended wearing a pink Marchesa Resort 2018 dress.
Season 2 of The Crown premieres on Netflix in December 2017. Season 2 is set in the 1960s and Michael C. Hall is playing JFK. Here’s the trailer:
